Verkar ha varit en otroligt rolig turnering/resa!
Lite avundsjuk blir man.

Fuck it, här kommer den. Insåg att jag aldrig kommer palla korr.läsa något som är 5 sidor långt och skall upp på forum. Håll till godo, jag inser i efterhand att en kamera hade varit en bra idé...

After some discussion with the other team-members i chose to play a list that was quite unlike the ones I’m used to playing. All thou it felt stronger and with more ”whipeability” I had some doubts and after two warm-up games against Jeppa and Pelle i became obvious that it lacked a few ”tricks” that I’m used to be able to use

The list:
Captain, Bike, relicblade, art.armour
Dread, Plasmacansnon
Dread, Melta, Pod
5 Assault terminators TH/SS
5 Bikes, fist, 2 flamers, attackbike
10 Marines fist, flamer M.melta Rhino
10 Marines, Melta, C-melta, missile, Razorback
5 scouts powerweapon
2 Attackbikes, multimeltas
5 ass.marines Fist
Landraider
Vindicator

GAme 1
The first game was against the all demon-team; 4 demon armies, all dedicated to just one god. I felt that all matchups, except for Khorne where decent so Jocke decided to match us after what we could defeat an choose to take on Khorne himself
I was up against slaanesh, 2 Heralds
I was up against slaanesh, 2 Heralds with chariots, 2x6 fiends, 4x12 Demonettes, 2X12 seekers, Prince, soul grinder and was played by a Belgian named Cederic. He gives me the first round, I castle up in one corner and puts the bikes in reserve. Cederic splits his army straight down and deploys his units around 18 inches from my army, one unit mishaps and I put up the front of a Tactical to destroy them by rapidfire in my round. I try a little Bait-maneuver with the Dread to draw out the fiends and the Herald, succeed halfway and the fiends charge. I countercharge with termies and since almost no demons arrived in round two and three, I could pretty easily take out the prince and a unit demonettes and reduce the Herald to one wound.

Since so much is left in the warp in round 4 I push the bikes down the flank in order to get him to put down some stuff there and there through drag him away from the easy killpoints in my DZ. The Bikes combocharge seekers and the wounded Herald, however fails my commander to make a single wound, and if my bike sgt hadn’t passed 3 fearless saves, he would have gotten out of combat in the wrong round, and everything had become more difficult. I put the terminator ready for further counterchargeoch when two demoettes and the other Herald (also with 1 wound) manages to get some easy kill points starts getting a little sweaty. However, the game ends in round 5, so never needed to be to worried. 4-0, much thanks to the late arrivals of the “second wave”

After a full score win the first round we started to prepare for the second round. Since all the armylists where in French we took some time to translate the armies that we thought we where about to face. But in some way we must have misunderstood the outcome I the other games and when it was time for the match-ups we realized thet we where about to meet an entirely other team than the one we had prepared for. After a quick glance at the armylists I told Jocke that I could take on anything except the dual lash list. Mistake. I ended up facing a tyranidarmy witch was far more shooty and resilient than I thought at the first glance. It consisted of 24 warriors, 2 shootyunits 2 shooty/cc units, 4 gaunt units, some of them with without numbers, 8 stealers, 6 raveners, 3 biovores.

I lost the dice-off and where forced to take the first turn. Since all the objectives where in the center my gameplan, after realizing that I could neither outshoot nor defeat my opponent I CC, where to try to tie up my opponents hardhitters with my resilient units and then go for his scoring units in order to pull of a draw.

My opponent deployed on a wide line with CC warriors in the center and the shooty units on the flanks, backed up with counter-charge. In front of everything he put at screen of WoN-Gaunts. After doing almost nothing in my first shootingphase I mad a big mistake by putting my bikeunit within range of the deathspitterwarriors. Having this unit decimated and my vindicator weapon destroyed by a sporemine I had to reschedule my plan in order to not be entirely shot to pieces. I charged forward with my LR, ass.squad , Razorback, Dreads and Rhino in order to draw attention to the middle and lure out his raveners giving my bikes opportunity to charge down in his deployment.

Everything seemed to go quite along with the plan until I committed two grave misjudgements of distance. First His Raveners managed to charge my termies (with a 6’ fleet, needed a 5) secondly I put my bikes to far away to deliver at powerful countercharge since I didn’t dare to charge in with the commander by him self I had to charge in them in the center as well. On the other flank his genestealers had chewed though almost everything and in turn five I sacrificed my attackbikes to lure his stealers out of cover and giving my last tacticals and landraider a chance to whipe them out and raced my razorback down in his deployment to defy my opponent some objectives. However we ran out of time and decided to end the game at turn five making my bike sacrificial pointless, but as we say in Sweden “är man dum så får man plikta”. In the end I lost objectives by 3-5 and the VP difference was 206p so in total a 0-4 loss witch I felt I had only my self to blame for.
Lessons: Never underestimate your opponent, improve eye-meassure and re-read the rules for lashwhip.

Game 3
Probably the easiest matchup since we face an all Deathwing team. I get matched-up against another Belgian player whose list consisted of Belial, Ven.dread in pod 5 units of termies and 2 landraiders. Quarter mission with one objective placed by each player. We both place our objectives at the far corner of our deployment zones. I choose to go first an deploys in a formation that could be called an “offensive traffic jam”. My opponent deploys his two raiders, packed with CC-terminators. One offensively with belial and one on the objective. The rest of his army is left in deep strike. I start with deep striking my dread in order to block the Belial raider and get of some poinless shooting. Because of this belials unit couldn’t get a “clean” charge at my army and where forced to take a difficult terrain check where the dice turned up 3,1 and after they had destroyed a rhino they where countercharged by my terminators and grinded down.

After this and the having his last terminator unit destroyed by mishap it was game over, however, showing great sportsmanship, he took this in a good mood and we spent the last rounds laughing at my vindicators inability to kill terminators. However, since he had parked a landraider with CCtermies at the last objective I was unable to take control of this and the game ended 3-1. Leaving six terminators standing I failed to do my part in whipeing out the entire first company.

Game 4
We where now in the top bracket and where about to face the team with the strongest list in the tournament. The choices where mech-eldar, dual lash, DE with 19 darklance and Sisters of doom. I told Jocke that all match-ups where bad but that I might be able to grasp a point or two from the SoB. Since he is such a kick-ass captain Jocke managed to get all of us decent match-ups and I was up to face, 2 full-kitted canonesses, 4x10 SoB in rhinos, 2x7 seraphims, 3 Exorcists.

The mission was a dawn of war mission with 4 objectives, 3 placed to the left, 1 to the right. I lost the dice off and where forced to move in first. Not good. Fortunately We where playing at a table with two large LoS-blocking features. I put the bikes and scouts in reserve and moved in the rest of the army behind the left feature witch I “extended” with the pod and the razorback. I sent the Assault marines down the right flank to prevent his exorcist to enter there and put one combatsquad on the right objective. He put all the exorcists, one SOB squad an one squad of seraphimes in the center. The rest of his army entered at my left flank. Aside from blowing my pod nightfight prevented him from causing to much damage.

From our deployments I think we both realized that it was about to become a very tight play from both sides. In turn two my bikes entered and I turboboosted down the right flank. I fired a bit at his rhinos and exorcists to reduce his moveability but no real damage caused. We both made some tactical redeployment and I tried to create a trap to get to get some CC at the left flank where my termies where destined to make some damage to his troops. In his turn three he took the bait, disembarking his rhinos and destroying the rhino and razorback. Unfortunately he immobilized the landraider and my great plan was stopped.

I disembarked with the termies to defend the left objectives from the 30 sisters at the left flank and charged one of the squads with my scouts and one combatsquad . He countered with the seraphimes and destroyed my squad but I had caused enough damage to his Sob that he decided to safe up his defensive objectives. His canonesses charged into the center and destroyed my LR. At the right flank my bikes and assaultmarines took position to charge the exorcists ad SOB scoring the objectives in his DZ, he charged the bikes with seraphims but having his canonesses in chargerange of my termies he decided not waste any faithpoints and they where grinded town in turn five. My assaultmarines charged on of his SoB squads, with most of the armies in CC I saw no point in attacking the exorcists. My termies charged both the canonesses and slayed the one without the mantle of Ophelia.

Running out of time at the left flank I tried to create a wedge with one of my marine squads forcing his seraphims to charge the squad and by pile-in-move drawing them away from the objective (a great plan, aside from the fact that seraphimes have hit-and-run witch my opponent reminded me of after the game) However; the seraphimes charged and by some miracle my 5 marines managed to win the combat and break the ld 10 seraphimes in the last turn. This fatal diceroll gave me a draw in objectives an took me over the pointlimit for a VP-victory. Aside from the un likely ending having the result of the game changed by a 1 in 12 chance I think this was the best game in the tournament since it put both players skills to a tough test and only one fatal mistake would have cost me the game entirely.

Game 5
Matched against orks, and after defeating Jeppas orks in a warmup game I felt quite confident. His army consisted of Megaboss, Bikeboss, 6 Meganobs, 2x7 Bikes, Klaws, 3x20 sluggas w Claws, 2x3 Killa Kans and 2 battlewagons. Quarter mission, 5 objectives, 1 in the center and 2 in each neutral quarter. He charged forward with almost everything and I took a chance. I mover all my meltaweapons within shortrange och his Meganob battlewagon and charged forward with the landraider. I Blew the landraider I pieces and after calculating the odds I realized that I had the numbers against me but took a chance and combo assault at his bikes+ boss and meganobs+boss with the terminators. After some dicerolling I had one terminator standing and had killed all of the meganobs, breaking the rest of the units it was pretty much game over in turn one. I took no more chances and pinning his bikes in a Mexican standoff with mine I could easily tie up his boyz with the dreads and shoot out his killa kanz. My opponent was a really nice guy and kept really high spirit trough out the game despite his horrendous loss in turn one. Hopefully he will get a rematch at BSK

Game 6
Since everyone else in the team has problems with the army I take on the opposing teams marineplayer, hoping that my long experience of playing the emperors finest will get me at least a draw. His army; chaplain, 5ass. Termies TH/SS, 2xIronclad in pod 10 marines pod, 10 marines rhino, 2x5 scouts, 1 attackbike MM , 2 Vindicators, Predator, 2LC. I Play at one of the strangest tables I’ve ever played at where half the table is open and half the table I entirely covered in forest. I get the forest quarter.

I win the dice-off and decides to go first, worried of what will happen if my opponent decides to charge forward with everything. I deploy quite aggressive o prevent this and it works, my opponent seems to have the same worries as I do and deploys defensively. I Pod down the dread in his deploy to put some pressure on his tanks. He counters with one ironclad and stuns it. The other ironclad cones down to threaten my vindicator. In my next turn I put all my shortrange firepower at it but no result. My landraider blows up one vindicator and the scouts enter behind his lines to blow up his predator and engage his bike. In the next turn the get countercharged and the ironcland eats my melta/c-meltasquad. The landraider blows up the other vindicator.

These lucky diceroll has gotten me a good advantage in firepower and I feel that I could get a shot at a major win if I take some chances. After a quick check with Jocke I’m told to hold back and make sure not to lose the draw. When I finally manages to destroy the ironclad in my deployment the game turns in to a stalemate where my terminators keep him away from my objective and my vindicator and attackbikes keeps his landraider from attacking. The game ends in turn and is a 3-1 win thanks to tight play.

Game 7
We play an all chaos team and I’m a bit worried of their Slaanesh and tzeencharmies som im matched against nurgle. 1 Prince w. warptime, wings MoN, Lord with demonweapon, 4x7 Plaguemarines, 2 rhinos, 2 units of lesser demons, 2x2 Obliterators, Landraider. Longedges, killpoints. In my deployment I think that my opponent would be more aggressive than he turns out to be som my gameplan gets a bit turned up side down when he decides to slowplay me. I have almost all my army at the left flank across from his army,at the right flank I deploy the bikes and the pod-dread.

After some lascannon firefights his landraider immobilizes mine and I disembark the termies to threaten his obliterators. He counters by charging them with the lord and one PM-unit. I kill the lord and counters with 10 marines with a fist he realizes his mistake and tries to move in the prince but he’s to far away. After whipeing the PM-unit my termies and assault marines charge the wounded prince and slays him. After destroying their rhinos I charge his 2 rhinounits with the bikes and the fist-squad, grinding them down. The scouts enter via out-flank and causes some damage to the demons before getting dispatched as an easy killpoints. These good series of charges wins me the game and after some nervous moments I CC a 4-0 victory.

All and all I think that the event in Mersenil is one of the greatest 40K events I’ve been to and all of my opponents where incredibly nice and great sportsmen. I am impressed by the French (and Belgian!) approach to the hobby and would like to dedicate a great thanks to everyone and especially to YeN and Dodo for taking such good care of us. Hope to see you in Sweden some
time!

A special thanks also goes to Herr B who provided us with the great objective-markers!

The one thing that almost ruined my weekend happened when I arrived in Malmö and was going by train the last few kilometers to Lund. When the train had started moving I realized that I had lost my ticket. After searching my pockets I panicked, seeing the controller entering the wagon I got to the door and got of the train in Burlöv (a suburb to Malmö). Thinking that I could buy a new ticket and take the next train to Lund. The problem was that there was no next train, not until next morning. So I called my girlfriend who was at home, sleeping and convinced her to come and pick me up. After ending the phone call I realized that I had forgotten my bag, containing my army, my clothes and everything else on the train. So there I was; in Burlöv, in the rain, in the middle of the night and my luggage was gone. Not a great ending of a great holiday…

Mycket trevliga rapporter, tummen upp!

Är hans Weirdboy en av de modellerna som varit med i GD? Tycker att jag känner igen den...

Squad markings tror jag inte du kan uttala dig om utan bättre bilder, men i övrigt håller jag med om att mallar suger.
