That's it man, game over man, game over!
Re: äntligen på advance order...
Åja...man kan se det negativt också;

Well here is a copy of my review I have posted over at warpshadow. Just my 2 cents after reading the Codex.
So I have read the new rules.
What does the army feel like?
My first impression? What really comes into mind is the overall theme of the new Tyranid Codex, somehow it doesn't feel like a swarm army any more, but like a very elitist army. Most things I have seen have been buffed in one way or another, options and biomorphs have been added, but the possibility to take bare units like in the previous Codex is almost gone. Expect your army whatever the build was to be more expensive than before (No matter if Nidzilla or swarm army).
Two options seem like winners to me, for one the Genestealers who now don't need the scuttler biomorph anymore for outflanking because they have infiltrate now and still got 2 points cheaper. Second the Gargoyles which I don't need to point out more. Hormagaunts are the same costs as gargoyles and I would always take the second one when possible, T3 6+Sv units just aren't made to capture objectives, other creatures do that better in the codex. The Lictor got slightly cheaper but with different rules, everything else did benefit somehow from a little bit of help here and there. but you are paying now for an elite force. Bare, cheap units are a rare sight in this codex.
Mobility.
The Codex offers new kinds of mobility! Deep striking is possible almost across the whole army either through new options ( burrowing and yes reburrowing) or through the so called spore capsules, you can buy almost across the army. Once your Units are deployed however most of the mobility is gone. Termagants and Gargoyles both lost the possibilty to fleet, 12" charges are restricted to Raveners and only the Trygon benefitet from the fleeting rule. So you can shock your oponent by deploying next to his units, but be prepared to be shot at a whole turn, because you practically can't do nothing. There are units like Ymgarl stealers who can set up anywhere on the board but that is extremely risky as the oponent can destroy the expensive unit just by deploying his own troops in the right place! Next point is the mobility costs a lot of points making the Tyranid army again.. elitist, except the Trygon or Mawloc who seem to get their mobility by default. Examples? The wings on a Hive Tyrant cost as much as an 12 model strong Spinegaunt unit in the last codex.
Hard to kill?
I'm afraid not. As the Tyranids didn't get any boost in the resilience (other than some minor tweaks next to a lot of downscales of options) your oponent certainly is going to destroy more of your points with every shot than beforce. Lictors and Warriors did get a Wound increase, but the lack of additional saves on Genestealers and Warriors makes them vulnerable to medium fire. 2+ saves are extremely rare and expensive, don't expect to see any of them on the board. Regeneration is just as expensive as it has been. Additional saves and toughnesses are not possible. Gaunts got even more expensive unless you take the basic termagaunts. Gargoyles will soak up twice as much fire as before, but that's it.
There is always the venomthrope who grants a 5+ coversave to every unit with a model withing 6 inches, but there is not a single word, that the venomthrope itself benefits from this power too.. and by the way.. it's a 5+ save. One hit of a demolisher will easily take the expensive and annoying creature of the field.
Second.. there is a boost of wounds on Warriors, but there is no possibility of eternal warrior of any kind on any creature. To fight the Tyranids you can easily stack on medium weapons or S8 and above, as every hit will cost the force an expensive model.
Can I use....?
Two sets of the same weapon on a Creature, more than 3 different Carnifex Builds, Leaping warriors different kinds of spore mines. All these are gone, most of the things however stayed so if you modeled some fancy biomorphs, don't be afraid, they are all still there, but I cannot speak for any kind of validity. Basically every kind of option makes an allready expensive unit even more expensive so watch out when glueing toxin sacs or adrenalin glands.
However if you relied on Spinegaunts as cheap meatshield I'm afraid you will either have to swallow the rise in points or remodel all of your gaunts into termagants.
Does the Codex encourage different builds?
Well practically indeed it does, and it also encourages modeling your own units. Most of the new characters or units like the tervigon just look like kitbashed Carnifices in the artwork, but I am sure most Tyranid Players will be much more creative than the design team was with the paintings.
Sadly rich variety doesn't mean that every choice is as valuable as the other one..
Expect Troop choices to be dominated by Gaunts with Tervigons, Heavy support choices packed with Mawlocs and Trygons and Fast attack with Gargoyles. I will predict most armies will look like that as Raveners and Warriors are too expensive and not reslient enough and the Genestealers not as much fun as using a MC as troop and objective grabber along with gaunts as annoyance.
The winners are the new choices as they seem to benefit from the best rules, be it resilience, costs, special rules or plain fun factor, but that is just my humble opinion.
So what happened to...?
5+ invulnerable save on a Tyrant, WoN of any kind, 5 point Hormagaunts, cheaper Spinegaunts or devourer gaunts, fleet on a Carnifex, Red terror, eternal warrior upgrade, 8 point Genestealers,...
nope, all hoax
The strengths
I do not have to say anything about the psychic powers, most of you allready know what they can do as they are expensive but powerful. We don't have a one shot 200 Point killer like the Space wolves, but other fairly interesting, though a little bit short ranged formidable powers.
Everything new (except the Toxanthrope and the Pyrovore) is a very valuable choices. Some special Creatures are not that well thought out, for example a T5 4+Sv monstrous creature sure isn't going to survive for long as one Strength 10 hit might cost your Tyranid oponent the point costs of a Carnifex, but the new choices almost all look pretty powerful. If you are starting a new Tyranid army you are a winner, as you can choose your list from a variety of powerful and interesting units.
Sadly the long time Tyranid collectors won't be as happy, especially if you have build your force out of the last Battleforces. Hormagaunts don't look so well next to Gargoyles, Carnifices won't be seen around often, even not with the slightly expensive drop pod (8 4th edition Spinegaunts in costs) Tyranid warriors are too expensive for the fire they can take and Genestealers with a bare 5+ save will be strongly competeted by the Tervigon Termagaunt couple.. and I doubt most have built their Genestealers into Ymgarl stealers.
If you want to benefit from this new and certainly powerful Codex you will have to begin from scratch, I feel mostly sorry for all of you who made their gaunts into Spinegaunts just because of the cheap points.
If you are starting.. be welcome! If you have been collecting Tyranids, no matter what force.. well.. you will have to make a decision.
Personal result
I have to say, that my old collection, though of a large variety, doesn't seem so interesting and usable any more.. I feel like I have to begin the whole army from scratch again (the Spinegaunt costs did hurt very much). Still the new rules have somehow failed to motivate me... there are just TOO much changes, I look at my collection and fail to see where to start now and expand, it would be a lot easier to begin from scratch, but I have invested a lot of time, love, work and thoughts into my collection, seing them outclassed by the newcomers feels like all the work has been somewhat pointless and I will take my time to decide wether it will be worth working on it again... spending all the money again just to return to the gaming table.
